The design proposal offers an innovative approach connecting luxury brands with sustainable design and environmental awareness.
Design Proposal Offers and Statements:
By offering Rolex, a luxury watch making swiss brand, a yacht to travel around the world allows them to connect with a wider community of wealthy buyers who are interested in investing into the brand, knowing the identity and values they stand by. The yacht will speak of Rolex’s luxury cultural identity and elegance while making a statement about the brands’ environmental conservation involvement and adoration to design for the ocean.
Design Proposal Interior Facilities and Collaboration:
The interior will house a new facility never introduced on yachts, an auction and gallery space. These spaces will host events, in collaboration with Sothebys, and elite buyers who are part of the Rolex community to raise money and awareness to aid an organisation called Plastic Oceans to clean the ocean from human plastic waste.
Design Proposal Involvement with Sustainable Luxury:
Introducing sustainability to a luxury brand will allow Rolex to be an exemplar to other luxury brands, showcasing how sustainable luxury can create elegant interiors while helping the environment. While also creating innovation towards the yacht industry and making a statement about the use of sustainability to show the “new luxury”.
Inspiration:
The main inspiration for the project was coral in the ocean. It was everything about them which inspired the design of the interior, its texture, colours, forms, and shapes. This also inspired the collage on the right which then inspired forms in my design by extracting parts of it.
Collaboration:
The collage on the left is describing three different organisations, the brand Rolex, Sotheby’s, a famous auction house and Plastic Oceans who clean the ocean from plastic. These are well known brands and organisations who will collaborate together on the Rolex Marine Yacht.
